Cost of buying a house has increased by 22% in Murcia

The cost of buying a house has increased nationally by an average of 11.7% and in the region of Murcia by over 22%.

The average mortgage is now 145,313€ and the cost per square meter has risen in ten years from 570€ to 1841€.

Barcelona is the most expensive area to buy a home, the average price being 190,525€ and in Madrid 189,922€. The cost in Teruel, Avila, Badajoz or Caceres would be half that price. Price rises varied greatly with some extreme increases such as 45% in Cordoba.

Murcia and the Canary islands have the greatest number of mortgages although the highest values were in Madrid and the Basque country.

All this means that the cost of buying a flat in Spain is on average the equivalent of nine years average salary despite predictions of a fall and several million more houses are expected to be built over the next five years.
